Background is BLACK, in memory of those who died as a result of Vietnam
Lets us not forget the military men and women, but also the "Donut Dollies" who died.

Quan Loi Airstrip, Vietnam, Photo Page #1

Equipment was placed on the wooden structure prior to Spring 1968, by making use of a "Sky Crane" helicopter,
which created enough turbulence to wipe out all the tents behind the tower, much to the troops displeasure. Sorry!

Photo of Quan Loi Tower taken sometime after November 1968.
Note 1st Air Cav logo. Logo prior was that of 1st Infantry Division (Big Red ONE).
Prior to the installation of this cab, Quan Loi Tower was M151 jeep with a PRC-40,
parked under the tree next to the areo port and weather cab.

This is similar style of tower cab (TSQ-70a) used at Quan Loi.
(This one was at 45th DustOff pad, Long Bhin.)

The control tower remained in use until near the end of 1969,
it was then replaced by a taller, slightly larger tower just north of the old tower.

A GCA installed in late fall 69' at the northeast end, east side of the runway.

As seen from the North. (Date of photo unknown)

Brigade FAC's and 2 Cross border missions with the Green Berets,
Call Signs RINGO and PRETZEL.
These last two call signs were used only after crossing "the fence" and came up on the KY-28 scrambler.
All tower and TOC communications used a RASH call sign.
